Health Careers Academy at Ronald E. McNair High School

We are a California Partnership Academy with the California Department of Education. The career pathway focus for the Academy is patient care. It is a three year program with recruitment occurring during freshman year. Students who have an interest in a career in the health field are encouraged to apply.

We teach the students a variety of skills and provide a wide-range of experiences. Students learn about different careers in Health Careers, establish a foundation of knowledge with Medical Science & Terminology, and hands on training. There are opportunities for internships with our business partners such as clinics and hospitals in the local area. We provide elective courses such as Dynamic Literacy in Patient Care and Diseases and Disorders. Students have opportunities to earn college credit for certain classes. In addition, students participate in field trips and health fairs.

Our goal is to give the students a good educational foundation for them to build on after graduation. Many of our students have continue on to various careers in the health field.

If you are interested in joining our Academy, please call Ronald E. McNair and they will be able to direct you to the appropriate staff member.
