CTE COMPUTER SCIENCE PATHWAY

This is a two-semester Intro Course for McNair's new CTE Computer Science Pathway

YEAR 2: WEB & MOBILE APP DESIGN

YEAR 3: INDUSTRY INTERNSHIPS AND ADVANCED PROJECTS

INTRO TO CODE AND SMART DESIGN

Smart objects are all around us and with inventions like Alexa and Google Home they are becoming central to our every day lives. In this class, students will learn how to connect sensors and other inputs to the Internet to solve problems.

Want to talk to your pet from the Internet? Want to create a laser trip wire to detect motion in your room? Want to know when its time to water your plants? The problems you design for are up to you.

In this hands-on lab class you will code, design and invent in pairs. Along the way, you will learn how to code in Python, the basic of circuits and electronics and an introduction to web design.

  • The Inventing Smart Objects and Sculpture students have teamed up over the last month to create interactive Haunted Houses.  For this collaboration, 120 students paired up across the two classes (over 2 periods).  The sculpture students picked a scary house from a movie to recreate with Popsicle sticks and the Inventing Objects Students added lights, sound and motion using code and microprocessors.  Come by on Tuesday, October 29th, during first or second lunch show your support for our talented students and cast a vote for your favorite!
