McNair Families,
Thank you for your patience not only throughout this entire week, but especially today as we awaited the environmental testing results. I am happy to share that we’ve heard back from the Industrial Hygienist and based on the results, we are clear to return to campus. McNair High School will return to in-person learning on Monday, August 11!
Here’s what you can expect on Monday:
While it is safe to return to campus Monday and resume in-person learning, Lodi USD Maintenance and Operations crews will still be working on campus. The goal of the past week was to restore the campus enough for students and staff to safely return to their classrooms, however there is still work to be done. Due to this, some parts of the campus will be fenced off.
For example, classes around room 123 will be inaccessible from the outside. Instead, all students and staff with outside rooms in Core 3 will need to enter through 123. Graphic Design and Ceramics students will need to enter from the outside on the west side of campus. All classrooms in the Culinary Building will be accessed by exiting the rolling gate, entering through the main gate, and then accessing classrooms from the east side. Access a map by clicking the button below for clarification. There will also be signs and staff present to help direct students.
We’re excited to welcome you back to campus on Monday and will continue to update you on the progress as needed.
Thank you again for your patience and understanding. We can’t wait to see you!

McNair Families,
Here is your daily update to the restoration progress being made on campus following the flooding.
Yesterday I mentioned that we were moving to the “drying out” phase on campus. I’m happy to report that drying out is progressing so well that we were able to begin testing the environmental quality and moisture in the air ahead of schedule. We are continuing to utilize the dehumidifiers and fans, while also beginning to work with an Industrial Hygienist. The Industrial Hygienist is present to conduct full environmental readings of all the affected areas. The results of these tests will help ensure that it is safe for students and staff to return to the classrooms.
We are hopeful that by tomorrow (Friday) we will be able to confirm whether or not in-person instruction will resume on Monday, August 11. For now, that remains our goal. In the meantime, we hope that you take advantage of the free breakfast and lunch grab and go tomorrow in the campus bus loop from 7:30-9:30AM. Students do not need to be present for pickup, and families can coordinate with each other for multi-family pickup if needed.
Additionally, Chromebook and internet assistance is available by calling 209-953-9245 ext. 325008 or ext. 325012 for assistance. Counselor support is available by calling 209-953-9245 ext. 325007.
You can expect the Friday update before 4PM tomorrow. You can also access real time updates on our webpage any time at bit.ly/flooding-updates. We’re almost there!
Thank you,

McNair Families,
Here is your daily update to the restoration progress being made on campus following the flooding.
We are pleased to report that we are on schedule! The water damage removal phase is 100% complete, and crews have moved onto the next phase - drying out the building. The industrial dehumidifiers continue to be put to use, as well as industrial size fans. Simultaneously, our teams are working to repair the broken pipe and identify any other potential issues related to the flooding.
McNair staff are continuing to return to campus to assess and identify water damage in their classrooms. On Friday, an Industrial Hygienist is scheduled to come to McNair to test the environmental quality of the building to ensure it is safe for students and staff to return.
McNair High School instruction will continue to be remote throughout the week as planned. Our goal remains to have students return on Monday, August 11. During this week, remember that free breakfast and lunch will be provided, grab and go style, in the campus bus loop from 7:30-9:30AM. Students do not need to be present for pickup, and families can coordinate with each other for multi-family pickup if needed.
Additionally, Chromebook and internet assistance is available as needed. Please call 209-953-9245 ext. 325008 or ext. 325012 for assistance. Counselor support is also available to students by calling 209-953-9245 ext. 325007.
We will continue to send these updates daily. You can also access real time updates on our webpage any time at bit.ly/flooding-updates. Hang in there, we hope to see you soon!

McNair Families,
Here is your daily update to the restoration progress being made on campus following the flooding.
We had Lodi USD Maintenance and Operations teams as well as outside restoration crews working overnight last night, all of today, and they will continue to do so tonight. At the time that this letter has been sent, we have made 30% progress on the water damage removal in buildings. This includes removing baseboards and sheetrock that was damaged by the water.
As of today, additional restoration crews have arrived onsite to expedite the progress being made. The industrial dehumidifier has also been delivered, and crews will be able to utilize this to continue drying out the building. We also have McNair staff returning to their classrooms and offices to assess the damage and request replacement materials, ensuring that rooms are put back together before students return. This is all being conducted while teams are continually monitoring the moisture quality and environmental status in the buildings. We would not ask staff to return and assess their classrooms if it wasn’t safe to do so.
There is still a lot left to do, but we are confident in the progress that is being made and the dedication of these hardworking crews. Everyone is working together to restore the campus as quickly and efficiently as possible, without sparing safety precautions.
As McNair continues remote learning throughout the week, we want to remind you that free breakfast and lunch can be picked up in the school’s bus loop from 7:30-9:30AM each morning. Students do not need to be present for pickup, and families can coordinate with each other for multi-family pick up if needed.
If Chromebook assistance or internet access is needed, please call 209 953-9245 ext. 325008 or ext. 325012 and McNair staff will assist in providing the resources needed for remote learning.
Remote learning isn’t easy, and it is exponentially harder when we are only two weeks into the school year. That being said, I am blown away by the quickness of staff to pivot and meet the needs of our students, as well as the flexibility and capability of our students to show up in virtual classrooms instead of on campus. This is a team effort; thank you for your partnership as we work towards campus restoration. We also know, however, that remote learning can feel isolating. Please remember, we have a dedicated team of counselors that are able to provide support, should your student need it. All you need to do is reach out. You can reach our counselors during the school day by calling 209-953-9245 ext. 325007.
We will continue to send these updates daily, however you can also access real time updates on our webpage: bit.ly/flooding-updates.
Thank you,
Neil Young

McNair Families,
I want to take a moment to address the flooding on your campus and what steps are being taken as we move forward. First and foremost, however, I want to apologize for the inconvenience that pivoting to remote learning may have caused to your student’s day and your family’s routine. Thank you for your understanding, patience, and partnership as we navigate this the best that we can.
Lodi USD teams and contracted vendors have been on campus working to identify the source of the leak and what repairs are subsequently needed. After the initial assessment and the extent of the water damage, it is clear that in order to ensure the safety of students and staff that we will remain on a remote learning schedule for the remainder of the week. To be completely transparent with you, the necessary repairs include, but are not limited to the following:
- Locating the exact location on the pipe that burst
- Dry out the facilities
- Remove baseboards and drill walls for mitigation
- Dehumidify the flooded areas (we have secured an industrial level dehumidifier that is being delivered from Reno, NV)
- Assess the tiles of the flooded areas
- Assess the damages of materials and furniture inside flooded areas
- Restore fire sprinklers
- Environmental testing to ensure it is safe for students and staff to be back in the flooded areas (i.e. checking for mold and other possible contaminants)
- Structural assessments to ensure that flooding did not cause other damages to our facilities
As you can see, there is a lot of work to be done. Rest assured that our staff is working around the clock to meet each of these needs and others that may arise along the way. We will also be sending daily updates to you to report on the progress of these repairs.
We know that remote learning comes with its challenges and uncertainties for families. Please see the additional information below that we hope mitigates some of these challenges:
- Breakfast and lunch: Lodi USD Food & Nutrition Services will be providing grab and go services from 7:30-9:30 AM in the bus loop of our campus. McNair High School families that drive through will be given free breakfast and lunch for their students for the day.
- Access to technology: If your student is in need of a Chromebook replacement or a hot spot to access internet while at home, please call 209 953-9245 ext. 325008 or ext. 325012 and tools will be provided to you.
- CTE classes: Students that attend 1st and 2nd period at Lincoln Technical Academy will access remote learning through their Google Classroom for the week.
- Athletics: Afterschool athletics will continue as usual unless otherwise noted. If any changes occur to the regular schedule, athletes will be notified by the McNair Athletic Department.
We plan to update you daily on the progress that is made. You can also access a list of frequently asked questions and updates on our website at bit.ly/flooding-updates.
Once again, I am truly sorry that this has happened on your campus during the first weeks of school. I am confident that our teams will continue to work together to resolve the issues and get students back in the classroom as soon as it is safe to do so.
Thank you,
Neil Young

Due to flooding caused by the break of a water main, McNair is going to be on remote learning for the day. Students will need to log into their Google Classroom during their class periods. Students on campus will be going home. This is a developing situation and we will share more information throughout the day.
